ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the articles on liver diseases published by authors from China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions) in Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) in 2016-2020, to analyze the bibliographic and citation data of these articles, and to understand the contribution and impact of Chinese scholars in the field of liver disease research in recent years. Methods The data for bibliometric analysis came from the SCIE database and Journal Citation Reports (JCR). The SCIE database was searched for the journal articles published in JCR Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals in 2016-2020, with a title or abstract containing "Liver", "Hepatocellular", "Hepatitis", "Cirrhosis", or "Hepatic" and a publication type of Article. Clinical guidelines were excluded, and the records with the corresponding author's affiliation containing institutions in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan regions) were screened out. R package bibliometrix was used to calculate the frequency of citations of included articles by liver disease studies published by Chinese and global authors in the Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals in 2016-2020, and R package DescTools was used to perform the Cochran-Armitage trend test to observe the change in composition ratio. Results In the Q1 Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals in 2016-2020, liver disease studies published by Chinese authors accounted for 9.5%. In recent years, the proportion of liver disease studies published by Chinese authors in Q1 Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals continues to increase from 6.0% to 12.2% ( P < 0.001). Among the liver disease studies published by Chinese authors in Q1 Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals, 79.7% were funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China, and there was no significant change in the proportion of studies funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China and published by Chinese authors in each partition of Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals in 2016-2020. The frequency of citations of included articles by liver disease studies published by Chinese and global authors in the Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals showed that liver disease studies published by Chinese authors had a high impact in both domestic and international academic communities. Conclusion In recent years, there has been a constant increase in the number of liver disease studies published by Chinese authors in high-impact Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals indexed in SCIE, and most of these studies have been funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China. The liver disease studies published by Chinese authors in Gastroenterology & Hepatology journals have been widely recognized by domestic and international academic communities.

ABSTRACT

Abstract The variability of the organisms living in a given area constitute what is referred to as biodiversity, one of nature's fundamental properties, responsible for the balance and stability of ecosystems. The loss of biodiversity has been of great concern to scientists, especially because of the role played by human activities in this regard, able to lead to irreversible circumstances. The São Paulo Research Foundation (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo, FAPESP) plays a major role in supporting research efforts in the most diverse branches of science. In the late 1990´s, FAPESP launched a major program to promote research on biodiversity, named BIOTA/FAPESP. So far, this program has financed the conduction of 26 projects, involving research activities in most of Brazil, while focusing mainly the State of São Paulo. These projects have generated about 1140 publications in peer-reviewed journals of high standard, providing relevant information, including the original description of 1187 species and 76 genera, the complementary description of 350 species, as well as a number of inventory works, biological studies, etc. The program has also been instrumental in the establishment or adequacy of research facilities and training of new taxonomists. Most extensively studied groups of terrestrial invertebrates include Insecta of the orders Hymenoptera, Lepidoptera and Diptera, and Arachnida of the subclasses Araneae and Acari. Distinct projects have also contributed to the detection of organisms potentially useful as biological control agents and in the determination of maps of major interest for the establishment of public policies. In the future, priority groups for study should include the Annelida and the Nematoda, for the potential both have as beneficial organisms, or for the potential some Nematoda have as organisms harmful to plants and animals.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Development and management of bibliographic references is a very important task in the research process. This activity continues to be a challenge for many researchers, despite the progress achieved in the field in terms of computer support. Access to and use of Internet-based information is a permanent premise in current research requiring immediacy in the enhancement of researchers' reference management skills, in keeping with recent technical advances. Reference managers are computer tools offering automated services for the bibliographic organization of references obtained from other publications. One of the most widely disseminated and commonly used managers is EndNote, which was revisited in the present study with a population of 23 aspiring PhDs from the Information Sciences University (UCI), with the purpose of revealing the results obtained by the implementation of a training program for the development of advanced skills intended for aspiring PhDs. As a result, three levels of actions aimed at the command of this tool were proposed: basic, advanced and expert, reflecting the degree of complexity exhibited by the functions performed by the software. The aspiring PhDs in the UCI group showed better knowledge and know-how about EndNote actions and operations than in their initial diagnosis. This was evidence of their progress from a basic to an advanced level(AU)

ABSTRACT

The surveys of the number of TCM ancient books, the bibliography classification methods, the bibliography publication, the bibliography network sharing and access, the evaluation of the classification method of subject bibliography on TCM ancient books and the relevant opinions and suggestions were sent to 30 TCM libraries and 24 comprehensive libraries in China. The questionnaires’ data and responses were analyzed, in order to understand the classification methods of TCM ancient books, the use situation, and the needs in the classification and cataloging work. The results showed that compared with the comprehensive libraries, the collection of TCM ancient books were concentrated in TCM libraries, the classification methods for TCM libraries were seldomly reported, and the classification methods were mainly self-compiled. Thus, the uniformity of the classification methods was poor, and there was also a significant gap in the standardization of the bibliography arrangement in TCM libraries. The result recommended that the domestic library industry urgently needed a unified and standardized classification for TCM ancient books. It was significant for promoting the sharing and exchange of TCM ancient books, promoting the standardization process of TCM information, and promoting the efficient implementation of Zhonghua Yizang compilation project.

ABSTRACT

The year 2006 saw the onset of a project aimed at speeding up information sciences doctoral training in Cuba. The Scientific Information and Documentation Doctoral Program, developed by the University of Granada, Spain, and the University of Havana, graduated a total 50 Cuban and two Latin American PhDs in ten years. The project was geared to updating and strengthening research activity in the country, as well as increasing the publication of papers in scientific journals of broad international visibility. The purpose of the present study was to determine with a bibliometric approach the impact of this doctoral program on national scientific productivity levels and the country's regional and worldwide ranking in the field of library and information sciences. The country's ranking was found to have improved in the databases Web of Science and Scopus. Identification was made of the proportion of studies stemming from the doctoral program with respect to the total volume of Cuban scientific production about the specialty in the period 2006-2019. One third of the national scientific production in both databases was generated by graduates from the three groups making up the program. Cuba has thus been able to occupy in recent years a sustained position among the first 50 countries worldwide and the first five Latin American countries in the specialty(AU)

ABSTRACT

For this study, the works of Lorenz Heister (1755), Martin Martínez (1764), Friedrich Tiedemann (1822) and François Chaussier (1823) were analyzed. A synthesis with relevant biographical data was developed for these authors, and for the books a bibliographic, quantitative and descriptive-qualitative analysis was performed. The images were also analyzed according to the classifications of Gomez (2005), Choulant (1852) and Kemp (1990). Regarding the authors of the texts, they were doctors, surgeons, anatomists and / or medical legists, of German, Spanish or French origin. The texts are written in Spanish, French, German and / or Latin. They present images with different levels of detail, in black and white or in color. All the anatomical bibliography used during the period under study is of European origin, transferring through its pages, a reality centered on 18th and 19th century Europe. This biased view of knowledge has been maintained until the present, where the teaching of human anatomy is still based on texts of foreign origin. A profound study of the training characteristics of doctors in Chile, is essential to understand the beginning of a professional identity, which has been important influence in health sciences and the political - social history of Chile.

ABSTRACT

(AU)

The necessary adoptions encompass cases of children over two years of age, with siblings, disabilities, chronic or interracial illness. This study aimed to present an integrative review of the necessary adoptions and how this topic has been investigated and discussed. From a search in the databases LILACS, SciELO, PePSIC and PsycINFO (2019-2018), 35 studies were retrieved. The scarce international production may be related to the fact that the necessary adoptions are a category in the Brazilian reality. Most of the studies prioritised as necessary the adoption of children children over two years of age, with few studies on children with disabilities, sickness and siblings. Further research on interracial adoptions is recommended, as well as greater awareness of the candidates to adopt regarding the profile of children for adoption in host institutions, which should be accompanied by greater visibility of the topic in the scientific field. (AU)

ABSTRACT

Open access (OA) publishing is a recent phenomenon in scientific publishing, enabling free access to knowledge worldwide. In the Indian context, OA to science has been facilitated by government-funded repositories of student and doctoral theses, and many Indian society journals are published with platinum OA. The proportion of OA publications from India is significant in a global context, and Indian journals are increasingly available on OA repositories such as Pubmed Central, and Directory of Open Access Journals. However, OA in India faces numerous challenges, including low-quality or predatory OA journals, and the paucity of funds to afford gold OA publication charges. There is a need to increase awareness amongst Indian academics regarding publication practices, including OA, and its potential benefits, and utilize this modality of publication whenever feasible, as in publicly-funded research, or when platinum OA is available, while avoiding falling prey to poor quality OA journals.

ABSTRACT

The Open Access Initiative is gaining momentum due to the worldwide availability of advanced digital tools, online publishing platforms, and systems for tracking academic contributions. Several declarations and initiatives, including Plan S, have already laid a foundation for moving away from subscription to full and immediate open-access publishing. The global initiatives imply targeting journals satisfying the upgraded quality and visibility criteria. To meet these criteria, a comprehensive approach to Open Access is recommended. This article overviews the essential components of the comprehensive approach, increasing transparency, adherence to ethical standards, and diversification of evaluation metrics. With the increasing volume of quality open-access journals, their indexing with free databases and search engines is becoming increasingly important. The Directory of Open Access Journals and PubMed Central currently free searches of open-access sources. These services, however, cannot fully satisfy the increasing demands of the users, and attempts are underway to upgrade the indexing and archiving of open-access sources in China, Japan, Korea, Russia, and elsewhere. The wide use of identifiers is essential for transparency of scholarly communications. Peer reviewers are now offered credits from Publons. These credits are transferrable to their Open Researcher and Contributor iDs. Various social media channels are increasingly used by scholars to comment on articles. All these comments are tracked by related metric systems, such as Altmetrics. Combined with traditional citation evaluations, the alternative metrics can help timely identify and promote publications influencing education, research, and practice.

ABSTRACT

This study looks into syllabi and bibliographies courses related to Early Childhood Education in the initial training courses in Physical Education, identifying their points of convergence and divergence with guiding documents of that first stage of Elementary Education in Brazil. It is a documentary study conducted on 16 syllabi and their respective bibliographies (267) of 14 Physical Education Schools of public universities. Data were systematized by the Iramuteq software. Conceptions of childhood and organization of pedagogical work present in the analyzed syllabi and bibliographies differ from the assumptions recommended by the National Curriculum Guidelines for Early Childhood Education and by the National Curricular Common Base. A biologic/universal vision of child development prevails in the documents analyzed, based on Developmental Psychology and Motor Behavior authors
